Whoopi Goldberg Says Jared Kushner To Talk With Whites Marching With Black Lives Matter

Whoopi Goldberg has criticized Jared Kushner for his recent remarks about Black Americans and success. The actor and co-host of ABC’s The View addressed the controversial remarks from President Donald Trump‘s son-in-law on Tuesday.

Kushner, who is also a senior White House adviser, garnered criticism for his comments about Black Americans on Fox News on Monday morning. Goldberg told The View‘s audience what she wanted to tell Kushner.

“Here’s what is wrong for me,” Goldberg said. “If you want people to stop bitching about stuff, then do something about it. You want people to stop saying ‘Hey, stop shooting us,’ then stop shooting us!

During an appearance on Fox & Friends on Monday, Kushner praised the president’s policies and their effect on Black Americans but he also made comments that some found racially insensitive.

“One thing we’ve seen in a lot of the Black community, which is mostly Democrat, is that President Trump’s policies are the policies that can help people break out of the problems that they’re complaining about,” Kushner said.

“But he can’t want them to be successful more than they want to be successful,” he said.

Critics accused Kushner of engaging in racial stereotyping and many social media users lashed out at the president’s son-in-law, pointing out that he’s had a privileged upbringing.

The Trump campaign has spent time and resources courting Black voters. He won just 8 percent of the Black vote in 2016 and polls suggest a majority of the demographic will back former Vice President Joe Biden this year.

The controversy around Kushner’s comments, and Goldberg’s response, comes just one week before the presidential election on November 3 and while there are still Black Lives Matter protests across the nation.

Senior Advisor to the President Jared Kushner participates in a press briefing at the White House on September 4, 2020 in Washington, DC. The administration officials discussed a U.S. led agreement between Serbia and Kosovo that attempts to normalize economic relations between the two countries.
