Jimmy Kimmel Compares Florida to North Korea

Jimmy Kimmel, one of the least funniest comedians in the U.S. and host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” recently did a segment on his show, comparing the state of Florida to the communist hermit nation North Korea.

In one of the most illogical and unfunny portions of his talk show, he called the Sunshine State “America’s North Korea” and showed footage of Republican governor Ron DeSantis kicking off the 2021 Florida Python Challenge.

“In America’s North Korea, the Sunshine State, from time to time, we enjoy taking a look at what’s going on, and tonight we are doing it again in a Gov. DeSantis edition of ‘This Week in Florida,’ ” Kimmel narrated as a video montage was shown on screen.

According to the official website of the said competition, “The Florida Python Challenge features a Burmese python removal competition, with the goal of empowering people to take an active role in conserving the Florida Everglades through invasive species removal.”

In an official press conference, DeSantis said “as part of my focus on restoring the Everglades, I’ve charged FWC with dedicating more resources and taking innovative approaches to removing invasive Burmese pythons.”

The glaring error of Kimmel’s unamusing joke is that North Korea is obviously a well-known communist country that has oppressed their people, while Florida, a state where freedom reigns supreme,  is led by a GOP leader who is one of the favorite targets of communists in America.

A spokeswoman for Ron DeSantis, defended the governor.

“Florida isn’t America’s North Korea. Florida is America’s West Berlin,”Governor DeSantis has led the charge on defending individual rights and liberties, making Florida the oasis of freedom, while many other states have imposed draconian restrictions on their citizens. Kimmel should visit Florida for himself before making any more embarrassing comments like that. I am sure he will enjoy our state and see firsthand how free we are compared to most people in his state,” the spokeswoman said in an email to the Washington Examiner.

Kimmel is also an outspoken Trump critic who has used his show to lampoon the former president. He also mocked GOP senator Ted Cruz when he had the chance.

“Ted Cruz, who four years ago took permanent residence up the a** of a man who beat him in every election by calling his wife ugly and slandering his elderly father, says this is emasculating. Primarily because Ted Cruz is not human – he’s a moist, gelatinous tube worm whose elastic band pants are filled with an inky discharge every time he speaks,” Kimmel said.
