Celebrities React To The Scene Of Giuliani ‘borat’ ‘farewell Rudy’

With the imminent release of the new Borat sequel, a scene where Sacha Baron Cohen manages to dupe former New York City mayor and President Donald Trump‘s attorney Rudy Giuliani has sent the internet into a spiral.

As previously reported, a scene in the upcoming mockumentary, which has the full title Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, has a scene that shows Giuliani lying on a bed in a hotel room, lying on the bed, and reaching into his pants with Borat’s 15 year-old daughter Tutar (played by Maria Bakalova, who is 24), who is posing as a journalist for a conservative outlet. Borat runs in to remove his daughter. “She’s 15. She’s too old for you,” he says

In July, Giuliani told Page Six that Cohen and company had almost successfully pranked him, but did not succeed. “I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn’t get me,” he said at the time. While it’s not clear if he was referencing this moment in the movie, it does seem possible that this was what he was speaking about.

Celebrities proceeded to roast Giuliani on Twitter for the incident. Author Don Winslow was taken aback by the scene, but proceeded to say that it was likely career-ending by including “Goodbye Rudy” at the end of his tweet. Former NBA player Rex Chapman simply wrote that he can’t wait to see the movie.

A few people used the image to make jokes about what the stills from the movie seem to imply. Comedian Paul Ogata made a joke about masturbation. Writer Anna Fitzpatrick made a similar joke referencing The New Yorker staff writer Jeffrey Toobin, who was suspended reports that he was masturbating on a Zoom call.

Conservative commentators like OANN’s Jack Posobiec and Mike Cernovich came to Giuliani’s defense and tried to claim that people posting the film still, which shows Giuliani reaching his hand down his pants, but doesn’t contain graphic imagery, is revenge porn.

The photo seems to have inspired actress Mara Wilson to share her own experience with Giuliani when she was a child and taking a picture with him and his kids. She said that once when she told a man she was dating about it, he showed her his Giuliani voodoo doll. “Still kind of haunts me that there is a picture of me with him out there,” she wrote.

Comedian Steve Hoffstetter asked his followers to describe the former mayor with only GIFs. Many of the responses were very amusing.

Newsweek reached out to Giuliani via the contact forms on the Rudy Giuliani’s Common Sense and Giuliani Security and Safety websites, but did not receive a response in time for publication.
